At Rowlett ATA Black Belt Academy, we are not interested in just teaching self-defense, we are interested in the complete personal development of each student while teaching life skills to last a lifetime!
The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for children ages 4 through 6 and offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children’s motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group.
Karate for Kids
There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the martial arts and we’ve developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called “Karate for Kids”. This system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. The building blocks for our system are monthly themes such as: Goals, Friendship, Perseverance, Self-Control, Confidence, Self-Improvement, Courtesy, Self-Awareness, Respect, Integrity, Self-Esteem, and Dedication.
While leadership is one of the attributes emphasized in all ATA programs, our Leadership NOW program offers students an opportunity to aspire to an even greater level of achievement. Leadership NOW’s mission is to create leaders that are meeting the needs of our world…adept at the core life skills which are integral to ATA’s curriculum. Leadership NOW students learn about the importance of leading by example and of community service. They’re asked to bring a greater level of focus to their physical training and are rewarded with more generous training opportunities and advanced curriculum.
Bullying is one of the troubling issues plaguing schools today. Research has shown that left unchecked, bullying leads to bigger problems, including emotional distress, decreased academic performance, delinquency, depression and even thoughts of suicide. For the first time in any martial arts organization, we have real data about what’s going on with bullying and are able to help our children with the tools needed to help deal with bullies, both in and out of an academic setting.
Teens & Adults
This program is more than just a workout, it teaches students to maintain good habits not only in physical activity but life in general. Basic fundamental of self-defense are taught while providing a strong cardiovascular workout and a high level of personal challenge that will aid in relieving stress and tension. Through well-structured classes, students of all ages are able to train in a safe and supportive environment, enabling them to form friendships that support them on their way to achieving their goals.
